Welcome to Sea Quest! The purpose of this one player DOS game is to locate and destroy all the
submarines. Your fleet has six ships, consisting of destroyers, aircraft carriers, and frigates. Each
class of ship has different strengths and weaknesses. All of the ships in Sea Quest have the following
capabilities:
  • Move - the distance that ship can move each turn
  • Sonar - measures distance to a target (but not direction)
  • Class - determines how far a ship's sonar will detect a target, how far that ship can move each
turn, and how much damage the ship can take if it is fired upon or hits a mine.

To destroy a submarine, move your ships across the map until you detect a submarine with your
sonar. If your sonar detects a sub, the ship will be circled with white hexagons at the distance the sub
is from your ship. Using two ships, it is possible to pinpoint the location of the sub by finding the
intersection of two sonar rings. Then move one of the ships so it can fire a torpedo at the sub
(torpedoes can only be fired in a straight line) or drop a depth charge on it (ship is directly over the
sub).

Although this game was originally released as shareware, I have now put this version of Seaquest into
public domain (as freeware). The file below includes 100 maps for Seaquest and the Seaquest map
editor.
